Ernst Frieden grew up in Langnau am Albis. He was born in 1952 and visited the first scout recruit school in 1972 followed in 1973 by the under officers' school. Assigned to the para trooper Kp 17, he accomplished his annual refresher course until his discharge in 1992. His particular interest in the military gave him the opportunity to undertake educational trips with the Officers' Association to Romania and the USA as well as with the Under Officers' Association to Sweden.
